  • A visit to C J Carter Dental

On your first visit you will be asked to complete a questionnaire including personal details, your health history and medications. There is space to note down any concerns or questions you have so you don’t forget to ask. We are always interested to know how you heard about us. Your information will remain private and confidential.

  • When do I need a dental checkup?

Check-ups are important. Generally our dentists recommend checking your teeth every six months, although for some patients it is more or less frequent.

Seeing a dentist only every few years allows minor problems to progress, thus requiring more complicated and costly solutions. It’s much the same as driving a car for years without servicing or renewing the tyres. Sooner or later, major work is required.

Regular checkups of your teeth are affordable, and take only 20-30 minutes of your time every 6 months or so. Preventative dentistry is what we recommend to all of our clients – and it works!

  • How long between visits ?

If your teeth and gums are in good condition, you probably won’t need to return for six months. When treatment is required, appointments can be made to suit your schedule..

We encourage our patients to ask questions about any concerns regarding their teeth and oral health. Ultimately want you to be confident and comfortable every step of the way.

  • What is a full dental examination?

The dentist and hygienist will carry out a thorough examination of your mouth, including your teeth, gums and tongue, looking for signs that could cause problems now or in the future.

  • Why have my teeth cleaned by the dentist or hygienist ?

Check-ups usually include a complete cleaning of your teeth, including flossing and polishing. Special instruments remove built-up plaque and tartar that can cause gum disease (gingivitis), caries, bad breath and other problems.

  • X-rays, do I need them?

X-rays show decay between teeth that can not be seen during a regular examination. They also show any underlying problems such as impacted teeth or abscesses, pinpoint the exact location of nerves and highlight any irregularities in bone structure.

Our digital X-ray machines are safe and emit minimal radiation.

  • Emergencies
